Large Group Wedding Panorama of Mike and Jody
November 30th, 2009

The wedding ceremony of Mike Zawacki + Jody Sanders took place at St. Benedict Church in Wallingford and immediately afterwards everyone headed towards the back of the church and I headed up to the choir loft. I usually like to do these large group wedding photographs with my panoramic camera outdoors but the weather was not cooperating. Despite the threat of rain, St. Benedict Church had a lot of light inside so it was not too difficult to make the black and white wedding portrait of everyone at the wedding. After the photo we all headed out for the reception at the Edgewater Hotel.
The photos looks even better when printed 36 inches long.
Edgewater Hotel and Olympic Sculpture Park Wedding Photography of Jody and Mike

This was Jodi’s grandmother’s bracelet. She was getting ready to wear it to her wedding.
So here are the rest of Mike Zawacki + Jody Sanders wedding highlights. There are a lot more on the client page of the website but this is the place for a quick look see of how the wedding photo story unfolded.

The necklace goes on with help from mom.

It takes a wedding party to get a wedding party ready for a wedding.

The wedding ceremony took place at St. Benedict Church in Wallingford.

The wedding party together stopped on at Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park, on the way to the wedding reception at the Edgewater Hotel. The light was very nice just before sunset. that day had been raining but we had the usual sun breaks at just the right time for pictures. I have always loved the sculptures of Richard Serra, and WAKE is one of my favorite pieces of his. Here are Jody and Mike with their wedding party with WAKE at SAM

And then the kiss.

As we walked on through the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park the sun went through some clouds and it looked so cool as the sun set.

Mike dipped Jody at the end of their first dance together on the dance floor of the Edgewater Hotel.

And lord did everyone dance!

I met my match as a wedding photographer emerged from the ring bearer.

And Jody was feeling pretty good as the evening wore on. I have collected some more highlights form the wedding and put them together into a slide show just below. Enjoy the party.
I wish to thank Jody and Mike for asking me to witness and photograph their wedding . It was one of the best times I had this year. These guys know how to have serious fun.

Jody and Mike at WAKE
I have been finishing up editing the wedding pictures of Jody and Mike and should be done by tomorrow, but I had to stop and post this one photo I made of them at the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park. We went there to make some portraits of the wedding couple alone and with their wedding party. The light was very nice just before sunset. that day had been raining but we had the usual sun breaks at just the right time for pictures. I have always loved the sculptures of Richard Serra the piece of his they have there, WAKE is one of my favorites. Wake, 2004, consists of 10 plates, 5 sets of locked toroid forms made of weatherproof steel. Back in the days when I was on staff at New York Newsday in the 1990’s, I was assigned to photograph Richard at the Museum of Modern Art and found him to be a wonderful person as well as an artist. There was an installation there that was interesting but I think seeing WAKE out in the open, under Seattle skies, it surpasses that presentation.
Anyway I made a number of portraits of Jody and Mike and the wedding party around WAKE and then we were breaking up and moving on to another location in the Garden when I noticed Jody and Mike stealing a kiss. Everyone one else appears in their own world by they are together in one of their own.
It was a great moment and seems like a good example of a wedding photograph that tells the story of their day in one moment. Come back soon and see the rest of the photos as I select the pictures to make up their wedding photo story.
“For Richard Serra, space is a substance as tangible as sculpture. He uses materials and scale to alter perception and to engage the body, encouraging consciousness of our relation to space. The towering, curved steel forms of Wake were achieved with computer imaging and machines that manufacture ship hulls, including a demilitarized machine that once made French nuclear submarines. It is composed of five identical modules, each with two S-shaped sections positioned in inverted relation to one another—gently curving serpentines of convex and concave parts that suggest tidal waves or profiles of battleships. The surface of acid-washed, weather-proof steel reinforces this industrial effect. Wake’s powerful silhouette belies a complex configuration of parts: the whole cannot be known at once, only experienced with physical movement and progressively over time.”

Panoramic Wedding Photography Darrah and Jason’s Wedding
November 21st, 2009

Jason Parker + Darrah Barth were married at the beach at Golden Gardens September on a blustery and rainy Sunday and after the ceremony the weather cooperated. It had been raining just before during the ceremony, but as typical, the rain came and went and it was clear enough for us all to come out on the beach and get together for a panoramic group portrait.

Just after Kathy Minnis and Chris Olson’s wedding ceremony on the dock at the Lake Union Crew Boathouse , all of their friends and family gathered together for a panoramic wedding portrait, while trying to ignore the little puddles of water coming up through the dock. It was all in all a gorgeous day!

Kathy Minnis and Chris Olson were married at the Lake Union Crew Boathouse September 12th with their friends and family out on the dock in the sunshine on a beautiful day. At one point some waves started to come up through the dock but no one got really very wet.

Kathy came up behind Chris for him to see her for the first time in her wedding dress.

Kathy places a ring on Chris’s finger during the wedding ceremony on the dock of the Lake Union Crew Boathouse.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake Kathy and Chris had a wonderful display of cupcakes from Look Cupcake this was just one of the displays. Pastry Chef Rhienn Davis makes some tasty there at Look Cupcakes.

Wedding Photography Highlights of Amy & Jonathan at DeLille Cellars

I had the pleasure to photograph the wedding of Amy Lowell Arnold and Jonathan White Keljo at DeLille Cellars and their beautiful grounds in Woodinville, WA. Sunday, August 31st. I just wanted to post a quick taste of some of the wonderful pictures captured during Amy and Jonathan’s special day. The photo at the top of the blog is from their ceremony under the trees at the winery.

Amy is walked down the aisle by her Uncle Jum

The cake was specially ordered to commemorate the meeting of Amy and Jonathan on a skiing outing on Crystal Mountain. It tasted very good too.

Their first dance was a waltz which dazzled everyone in attendance it was so well practiced.

The Smores were a big treat for people during breaks from the dance floor.

Wedding Planner Kelly Simants of Sweet Pea Events coordinated the event which went off without a hitch. Spiritborne Videography captured the wedding on video and the DJ and sound system was by Emerald City Productions. The catering was done by Seasoned In Seattle and the food was delicious. Photographer and old friend Paul Joseph Brown and I again worked another great wedding together.
Wedding Photography of Darrah and Jason’s Golden Gardens Beach Wedding Celebration
November 12th, 2009

Jason Parker + Darrah Barth were married at the beach at Golden Gardens September on a blustery and rainy Sunday. We were worried about the weather. It did rain, but as typical, the rain came and went and left many open sun breaks where it was beautiful to see dramatic clouds in the skies above the waves.. Jason is a jazz musician. A trumpet player with his own quartet and just released his second album “No More, No Less” and so it was that there were a lot of musician in attendance both as guests and playing music. at the reception and later at the club Lucid for the after party reception. Jason got up with his band and sang a song of his own composition to his bride and then played some tunes to her as well. It was a very special wedding and I had a hard time editing all the great photos. Here are a some of the highlights. I have some more tucked away in a gallery at the bottom.
