Immediately after Ann and Jonathan’s wedding ceremony outside the Summit House on top of Crystal Mountain, everyone gathered together for a group panorama portrait and what a grand panorama it is with Mount Rainier right there in the background. Ther were no clouds at this point so the view made the mountain look so close although within a hour it was socked in.

Just to the left of Ann in the white hat center, you may see someone is holding up a laptop computer hooked up to a connection using Skype to show Jonathan’s mom what was going on since she was unable to attend the ceremony. It is fitting that her virtual self is pictured in the group panoram portrait.

Their 12×36″ print was finished today and it is fantastic to see the details. Here is a link Crystal Mountain Wedding to the rest of the photos from their wedding that I previously highlighted on this blog. Congratulations to both Ann and Jonathan.

Ann Mecklenburg and Jonathan Hawkins were married on top of the Crystal Mountain ski resort near Mount Rainier last month early on a Sunday morning before the ski run was open to the public. They and most of their friends are outdoors people, skiing and rock climbing are a couple of their favorite activities,  and thought that the best place to celebrate their wedding was at a place they all love be with a view to die for. They were married a few paces away from the Summit House which at 6,872 feet makes it the highest wedding I have ever photographed. We rode up on riding in one of the new enclosed gondolas, which just started service this season. As you can see below the weather was grey at the bottom but as we ascended the sun broke through and it was glorious. They were blessed with one of the finest days of the year so far.

Inside the Summit House they were preparing the Wedding reception breakfast.

Looking down from part way up Crystal Mountain.

The view from the top after getting out of the gondala. At 7 AM the weather was crystal clear and Mount Rainier looked so immense and so close.

Ann and her Dad get ready to walk down the aisle.

I love Ann’s bouquet.

What a backdrop for a wedding ceremony.

Jonathan’s mom could not make the journey but was able to follow the ceremony live thanks to Skype and a laptop computer right.

After the ceremony and reception Ann and Jonathan prepared to take off for their first run as man and wife, so they put on their formal ski hats.

For the skiers out there, it should be welcome news that Crystal Mountain is having one of their best winter ski seasons in a while. They expect to keep the mountain open for skiing all the way into July this year, so there is still some time to get a lot of skiing done before the end of the season. The snow pack is way above average. Check the Crystal Mountain website for further detail.

Here are a few sneak preview pictures from Ann and Jonathan’s wedding Last Sunday morning at 7AM on top of  Crystal Mountain, Washington. The top of the ski run is at 6,500 feet and as we went up from the base riding the new enclosed gondola, the weather went from overcast to brilliant sunshine. Mount Rainier seemed so close you could almost touch it. I am back to shooting some black and white film at my weddings and the above picture is a scan of one of the negatives. Share on Facebook

The image below was just at the point on the way up that we got hit by the sun.

Here is the view when we first arrived at the top. We went u before the skiing are was open to the public. The new gondola terminal is to the left and the old lift is on the right. You can see one of the red gondolas as well.

The bride and groom walk down the aisle.

There will be more pictures to come after I edit the whole set of wedding images.

Jamie and Brian were married July 18th at the top of Crystal Mountain with a wonderful full view of Mount Rainier. Afterwards, we got everyone there on top of Crystal Mountain to pose with them for one of my most dramatic large group wedding panorama ever with Mt. Rainier looming large in the background. I am about halfway through editing the rest of the wedding photographs and will post them when they are ready.
