I was happy to see that Sarah and Bob’s wedding announcement was featured in the New York Times this past weekend on their Weddings/Celebration page.  It was fun shooting their engagement pictures and I am happy many will have the chance to see it.

They were married last Friday and very soon I will post some of their pictures here. They are a very interesting couple as the New York Times notes:”Sarah Anne Dunne and Cmdr. Robert Edward Kettle were married Friday in the historic church building of the St. Barbara Parish in Black Diamond, Wash. The Rev. David H. Young, a Roman Catholic priest and the church’s pastor, performed the ceremony.” Continue reading here.

Many couples traditionally get engaged over the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays as evidenced by the huge increase in the number of couples contacting me to photograph their up coming wedding. This was the first time I got to witness the actual engagement moment.
Rick contacted me and told me he was gong to give Erin an engagement ring and pop the question the day after Christmas. He asked if I would tag along and take some photographs to document the moment. I was delighted to accept his proposal. Here is a selection of pictures from that day we spent at the Olympic Sculpture Park. the day was kind of grey but at least it was not raining. Of course if you were waiting to hear Erin happily agreed to Rick’s proposal.

Below is a mini-slide show with a larger selection of pictures from Erin and Rick’s engagement session. Click on “toggle images” at top right to hide the thumbnails; to start just click on the right arrow on the image.

Liz and Eric live close by in the neighborhood so when it came time to make an engagement photograph it was a no brainer to head down to Golden Gardens Beach. The weather was a little cool and the sun looked good but when we got to the beach the wind became an issue. It was much stronger than back in the neighborhood. We made a few pictures with Puget Sound and the Olympics in the background down by the water like the one above but soon headed for the protection of the bath house which was great for blocking the wind and we made what was their favorite image below.

So I am look forward to warmer weather with less wind when photographing their wedding which is coming up fast at the end of May on the Skansonia.

On Saturday unexpectedly the weather was fine and the sun looked good so I called Casey and Cletus and we moved making some engagement pictures up by a day. They were getting ready to go to a friends wedding at the Hotel 1000 a little later in the evening but it worked out great. Jana and I met them at Kerry Park and we made some pictures with the Seattle skyline in the background before we headed off to explore Queen Anne and headed west. We made the above image, one of my favorites, at a little park under renovation but the bench was open and we had a lot of fun with it.

We finished up with the above setting and I think I like it the best. I look forward to photographing their wedding in October  on the Skansonia.

Mike and Catherine are getting married on July 10th at the University of Washington campus and we decided to make some engagement pictures. Last night, right after the Mariners ended a eight-game losing streak in big way, we met at the waterfront park on the pier where AT&T used to sponsor summer night concerts. What ever happened to those concerts?
The light was lovely and Catherine and Mike were in good spirits. Here are a few of the images we made that I liked.
