Kiana Lodge Wedding

April 14th, 2010

Sue and Pepper had an April wedding at the fabulous Kiana Lodge, a perfect setting of six-acres, surrounded by fragrant cedars, majestic firs, more than 30 varieties of rhododendrons, and manicured grounds featuring a spectacular view of Puget Sound from 1,000 feet of private no-bank waterfront. Sue and Pepper are a fun loving couple. Pepper surprised Sue near the end of the reception with a fireworks display on the beach of the lodge. Below are the highlights from their wedding celebration and you will see how happy they were with their day. I returned to Seattle with them on the ferry and got a picture of them dancing on the bow as the ferry arrived into the Seattle dock.

Tonight is Conan O’Brien’s last night as host of NBC’s The Tonight Show. No one would begrudge him some bitterness over his being forced out, but he’s taking it and having some fun with it.

I don’t know if you have been following the Conan O’Brien and NBC saga but on Wednesday night  Conan got  back at NBC by spending more than $1 million of NBC’s cash before he leaves the show. Conan O’Brien’s unveiled his show’s newest character, the “Bugatti Veyron Mouse,” a $2 million Bugatti Veyron, which claims to be the world’s most expensive car.

“The good news is, until NBC yanks us off the air, we can pretty much do whatever we want,” O’Brien told the audience. “And here’s the beautiful part: We do whatever we want, and they have to pay for it.”

Interesting enough, since word got out about Conan’s departure the ratings for his show are up more than 50%.

Conan O’Brien’s Wedding Photo – Liza and Conan walk down the aisle at St. James Cathedral

You may be interested to learn that on Saturday January 12th, 2002, I was Conan O’Brien’s wedding photographer when he married Seattle native, Liza Powel, at St. James Cathedral, during a downpour. The ceremony was private and was attended by close friends and family. Here is the one photo that they agreed to release to the press.
The bride, daughter of Seattle Dixieland band-leader Jake Powel, wore a Vera Wang white, empire-waisted gown which was covered by a lace floor length coat. She carried a matching purse and red roses. O’Brien wore a dark suit, white shirt and cream tie. Conan is abut 6′6″ and Liza is almost as tall.
It was a really fun wedding to photograph. Conan was kind of camera shy for the first part of the day. I found it hard to understand at first but then I realized that he works around cameras and is very conscious of them and it was hard for him to relax and be his true self. My camera must have made him feel like he was working and he did not want to feel that way on his wedding day. He did relax later on at the reception at Union Station, and he seemed to be unaware of me making the pictures there. He even got up at one point and played guitar with his house band from the show, The Max Weinberg 7. It was really great.

A Beautiful Day Photography, Daniel, Jana, Ema and Claire, wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We were lucky to get our picture taken by a photographer’s photographer Michael Craft. Photos for this holiday’s posting are from the Studio of Michael Craft.

Monte Whitbeck  and Annette Barniville celebrated their wedding by throwing  a Black and White Masquerade Wedding  party on Halloween at the Tibbetts Creek Manor.  I just finished the final edit and I wish to present a selection of highlights here before we get into the total swing of  celebrating Christmas. It was a rocking good celebration of Monte and Annettes wedding which actually took place not long before in Fiji and they just wanted to celebrate it with all of their close family and friends and Halloween was a great time for a party. DJ Leslie of Seattle Parties was on hand to spin the music and everyone had a ball. Something about a masquerade ball that makes people feel free to express themselves on teh dance floor. This was one great party to photograph as the dance floor was full of pictures to be made. As wedding photography goes it was a very different and special celebration to photograph compared to shooting regular wedding photography.

Annette after sh first put on her mask.

In one room slides of the actual wedding were projected onto a wall for guests to see.

Aside from a smally white cake on the top, the rest of the wedding cake consisted of cupcakes with fresh strawberries on top. The whole cake can be seen below.

This first wedding picture is of the moment just before Judah gets his first look at his bride to be Sarah.

The wedding pictures from Sarah Hess and Judah Stevenson wedding at the Tyee Yacht Club took some tough editing. There were a lot of good ones to choose from but these are the ones I have come down to for posting here. There are ten wedding pictures below and  a web gallery at the bottom with a score or more. This was such a wonderful wedding to be a witness and to document. Sarah and Judah are such a creative, thoughtful and beautiful couple. The getaway at the end of their wedding was a special event in itself, a cruise to the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland via the “Seneca”, a 38 foot, 1958 Chris Craft,

Here is the fianl post of the  wedding photographs from Lauren Bishop and Jeremy Molinaro’s wedding ceremony on September 5th. Here is the large group panorama portrait of all of their friends, family and guests. It had been raining off and on all day and I was afraid we would not be able to do this shot. They were married outdoors, and because of the rain the ceremony took place under a huge tent. But then just as the ceremony was ending and Lauren and Jeremy were walking down the aisly as a married couple the sun burst out of the clouds and we got to to this portrait of everyone there. In fact the only problem was the sun was so bright a lot of people had their eyes closed. All in all it is one successful portrait. I wish you all could get to see the original print which is 36 inches long. The detail is stunning.
