San Francisco Wedding Photography

Connie getting ready for her wedding at the Hyatt Hotel, overlooking the ice skating rink next to the “Vaillancourt Fountain” at Justin Herman Plaza (created by Quebec-born sculptor Armand Vaillancourt) not far from the Ferry Building on The Embarcadero at Market Street.
Connie Wong and Alex Wang were married at the Town Hall Restaurant in San Francisco on one of the last days of 2009. One of the things I discovered about both of them is they like food. I mean they really like good food and so the location for their wedding was not a difficult decision. It was at one of their favorite restaurants in San Francisco and I can only agree they served some really fantastic food. The Town Hall is now my favorite place to eat in San Francisco. The BBQ Gulf Shrimp with Worcestershire sauce is to die for.
Connie and Alex were unsure if I would be able to get good photographs at the The Town Hall because the light was a little dark. The atmosphere was good for dining but with some help from some additional strobes and diffusers I was able to light the place and I am happy with the light in the pictures.
Meeting Alex and Connie I was taken right away with their intensity and joy of living. After spending the day photographing their wedding I was impressed with the love and respect they have for each other and their families and friends. I had to laugh and cry at times as they were toasted with stories about them from family and friends. It was cool watching Alex serving food to Connie and everyone at the family table. And then as he fed his bride the food that he served. It reminded me of films like “Eat, Drink, Man, Woman” and “Like Water for Chocolate”.
I do not mean to go on for so long but I was surprised finally at the end of the evening when one of Connie’s friends who is Jewish, arranged for them to dance the Hora to the traditional Jewish song Hava Nagila “Let us rejoice and be glad…” and everyone danced and lifted them up on chairs and I almost thought I was at a Jewish wedding fro a moment. Eveyone there did indeed rejoice. Enjoy the photos below. There is a gallery at the bottom with a complete selection of highlights. It was difficult to edit them down.

San Francisco Wedding Photography of Connie and Alex’s Wedding
February 2nd, 2010
Connie Wong and Alex Wang were married in San Francisco at the end of December last year and I have just finished editing their wedding photographs. Tomorrow I will post a selections of images highlighting my favorites along with a mini gallery.
I wanted to mention that I am experimenting with a marketing idea to see if anything comes of it. I decided to offer a free engagement session, web gallery and print coupon, which is good until the end of the month to anyone who books a wedding in February and mentions this coupon from my google listing: Engagement Coupon

San Francisco Wedding Photography | Group Picture at Town Hall
January 5th, 2010
Connie Wong and Alex Wang were married on Sunday Dec 27th a little more than a week ago. The wedding and reception took place at a venerable old San Francisco institution called the Town Hall Restaurant. Towards the end of the evening we cleared out some tables and chairs and got everyone in attendance together for a large group wedding picture right there in the center of the restaurant. I shot a number of frames but these two seem to be the best as far as exposure and best number of people looking good.
This one above one is cropped a little too tight on the here, but the original has all the details. Which one looks best to you?
You are welcome to leave comments below. Some time over the coming weeks when the editing and processing is done, I will post a gallery of the highlights of this fun San Francisco wedding here on the blog. This picture reminds me how fantastic the food at the Town Hall Restaurant tasted. Check it out next time you are in San Francisci. It is at 342 Howard Street, S.F. CA 415.908.3611.
