Linee and Michael were married on June 20th on board The MV Skansonia. and after the ceremony which was held inside because of the rain, everyone went outside since the rain had stopped, to the front of the boat for a large group wedding panorama. Once again the original print which measures 36 inches in length is full of detail that can not be seen on a computer monitor, but this gives you an idea of how it looks.

Indian Wedding Photographer in Seattle
August 16th, 2010
I just returned from a week in Washington DC photographing the wedding of Ganesh and Surbhi in a traditional Indian wedding ceremony according to the Hindu Holy Scripture using Veda mantras written in Sanskrit, the root of all Indian languages. I was lucky to work with an old friend and Washington DC portrait photographer Scott Robinson on this wedding. While I have just returned and have only downloaded and backed up the files and have not started to process any pictures this one caught my eye and I thought I would share it with you here. Scott made a behind the scenes photo of me as we started to do the formal posed pictures after the wedding ceremony. He had already set up the lighting and was just keeping an eye on me for problems and made this picture of me waiting for the bride and groom with the brides grandparents. Thanks to Scott and thanks to Ganesh and Surbhi for flying me in for a really grand wedding celebration in the Indian tradition. Hope to have more pictures up here sometime soon.

Palinee Makchuchit and Michael Leslie pose for some Gas Works Park wedding photos in the morning before their wedding on board The MV Skansonia.
Linee and Michael were married on June 20th and when I got up in the morning it was grey but dry. Rain was in the forecast but it held off for a while. I met up with Michael and his groomsmen in Gas Works Park for some pictures. Linee and her bridesmaids were getting ready and were set to join us. They ran a little late and by the time they arrived it had started to mist and then come down a little harder. We went ahead and made some pictures anyway. I really like this above shot of the two of them with the blue umbrella with the Seattle skyline barely perceptible behind them through the fog.
Below are a dozen pictures of some of my favorite highlights and at the bottom a mini-gallery with a total of 36 images of their wedding day photographs.
A float plane takes off from Lake Union in the background as Michael and his groomsmen pose for a picture.
The fog came in and we headed off to the Skansonia to get ready for the wedding ceremony. One of the great things about the Skansonia is if the weather gets wet, the ceremony can be easily moved indoors without a hitch.

Olympic Sculpture Park Wedding of Annie & David
June 1st, 2010
The PACCAR Pavilion and the Bill and Melinda Gates Amphitheatre of the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park above, was the setting for Annie Livingston & David Bowermaster’s Wedding Celebration on April 24th. Although there were predictions of a rain storm for the day, it seems the heavy weather blew past north of Seattle and we had a beautiful sunny day with just some occasional gusts of wind.
David and Annie got ready at the Edgewater Hotel which is just down the hill from the Olympic Sculpture Park.

Wedding Photography at Mary and Michael’s Wedding at St. Joseph’s Church and The Willows Lodge
May 16th, 2010
The weather has been really nice this week and so it has been hard to stay in and edit photographs but I did manage to finish editing the wedding pictures of this wedding. Mary Bright and Michael Ferrante were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Issaquah on April 10th. It was a beautiful day for a northwest spring weekend wedding. I again had a great time photographing a wedding reception at The Willows Lodge in Woodinville, WA The garden at the Willows Lodge just across from the famous Herb Farm restaurant, is a great location and a perfect place for a wedding reception with great food. I also enjoyed the great music provided by the band Jazz Unlimited who played throughout the reception, including providing some good tunes to dance to. Here are a few photos to start and below is a web gallery with the complete set of 32 images I wanted to display to show off the highlights their wedding day.
Although most of the pictures were shot in digital format I did shoot three rolls of black and white film with my Leica and 35mm lens. I find I still love to see the crispness of the original negatives, even if I do then scan them and view them digitally. The grain of Tri-x has such a different look from a digital frame.

Mary and Michael wanted a wedding portrait with the ruins of this old tree in front of The Willows Lodge. It must have been a grand example of an old growth tree before it died.

The tables were beautifully set.

Sugar Magno and Chris Olivar were married on a Friday night in August at The Seattle Space Needle. It was a wonderful evening on a very special date at a Seattle landmark high above Seattle Center, the location of the World’s Fair in 1962. The Space Needle is 605 feet high and when it was completed it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River. The wedding was at the Skyline level but after the ceremony we went up the the observation deck at the top for some photographs.
Reminding me of the popular recent book by author and journalist Stieg Larsson “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, Sugar arrived with her beautiful dress ready to slip on which she did with the help of her mom.
The flowers including the bouquet were orchids.
Her Dad and Mom walked her down the aisle.
It was beautiful and intimate ceremony up there at the top of the Space Needle as the sun was starting to set.
This was the largest of the 5 wedding cakes and they were topped with orchids flown in from Hawaii, which is where Sugar and Chris went for their honeymoon.
Sugar and Chris cut the cake which tasted as wonderful as it looks.

Every table was decorated with a bowl of orchids.

Chris and Sugar were toasted by friends and family as they awaited dinner.

The cut of the dress really showed off Sugar’s dragon tattoo. Later on they had a dollar dance and which was as much fun photographing as it was for the family and friends attaching bills to the wedding couple as they danced to the music of the Pacific Islands. The band was fantastic and people danced through the evening.

Wedding Photography at The Willows Lodge, Woodinville
April 27th, 2010
Mary Bright and Michael Ferrante were married earlier this month at St.Josephs Church in Issaquah and had their reception at one of my favorite venues on the east side, The Willows Lodge. I am in the middle of editing the pictures but wanted to put up this photo of the two of them on the railroad tracks just outside the Lodge before we went in at the start of reception. They were such a great and loving couple to photograph and we had a great and beautiful day for an April wedding.
Earth Day 2010
April 23rd, 2010
The most detailed true-color image of the entire Earth created to date. Using a collection of satellite-based observations, scientists and visualizers stitched together months of observations of the land surface, oceans, sea ice, and clouds into a seamless, true-color mosaic of every square kilometer of our planet. Much of the information contained in this image came from a single remote-sensing device-NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, or MODIS. Flying over 700 km above the Earth onboard the Terra satellite. (NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center)
Another Earth day has come to pass. The Boston Globe blog The Big Picture has an interesting post with photos taken around the planet leading off with this beautiful picture.
