Rouella Mendonca and Harneet Singh were married on one of those gray cloudy days we have in mid-February. Just before sunset, after their second wedding ceremony of the day, a glimmer of sunlight worked its way through the gloom. The sky in the picture above should give you some idea of what the light was like. Yet Rouella and Harneet were so happy – it could have been pouring and it would not have mattered to them.
Coming from different faiths, they decided to celebrate their marriage with two ceremonies, reflecting their Sikh and Catholic denominations. The Sikh ceremony took place at the Sikh Centre Of Seattle in Bothell. The beautiful and simple rite was accompanied by wonderful Indian music, and it was a delight to witness. After a meal and a break, we headed over to Blessed Sacrament Parish in the University District, where Rouella and Harneet had their Catholic wedding ceremony. This required a different wedding dress for Rouella. It was stunning to see her emerge from the rectory of the church. Her dad walked her down the aisle. Harneet looked on as she came up to the altar. The wedding party was quite small, with just two grooms men and two bridesmaids.
This was one of the hardest set of wedding pictures I have had to edit in a while, as there were so many wonderful images of the many details from both ceremonies- it hurt to leave them out! Below is my best effort of doing their wedding day justice with a small number of my favorite images. The slideshow shows a larger and more complete set of Rouella and Harneet’s wedding photos. Special thanks to Megan Keller of a KURANT EVENT for the great work she did organizing and planning the events, and to my second photographer Monica Frisell.

Rouella Mendonca and Harneet Singh are a beautiful couple and had a wonderful wedding day. They had two wedding ceremonies in February, the first a Sikh wedding ceremony in Bothel and the second a Catholic wedding at Blessed Sacrament Church in the University District of Seattle. This large group wedding panoramic portrait was made right after the Catholic ceremony in the back of Blessed Sacrament Church. Tomorrow the rest of the pictures from their wedding will be posted here.
Rouella and Harneet’s Sikh and Catholic Wedding Ceremonies & Wedding Reception at the Lake Washington Rowing Club Seattle
February 26th, 2013
Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending and photographing the wedding ceremonies of a wonderful couple of people Harneet and Rouella. What was unusual for me was they were married in two different wedding ceremonies, Sikh and Catholic.
On Friday evening they had the traditional Mehndi or henna ceremony where Rouella and many of the women in the family and her friends had henna applied to their hands and in Rouella’s case her feet as well. It was a joyful evening party.
Saturday morning was the wedding ceremony at the Sikh Temple in Bothell,WA. This was the first time I had been present for a Sikh wedding ceremony and it was wonderful and very simple. I am unfamiliar with the traditions of the Sikh religion and seeing their wedding ceremony was a great introduction to the teachings of their gurus. After a meal and a break we headed over to Blessed Sacrament Church in the University District where Rouella and Harneet were married in a Catholic wedding ceremony.
After the wedding at Blessed Sacrament, we all headed over to the Lake Washington Rowing Club for the wedding reception. Here is a taste of some of the pictures we shot over the weekend. There are a whole lot more that need to be edited, but this preview will have to do for now. I would like to thank Megan Keller of a KURANT EVENT for the great work she did organizing and planning the events and my second photographer Monica Frisell.
Seattle Wedding Photography of Erin & Raymond’s Blessed Sacrament & Arctic Club Hotel Seattle Wedding

Jumping for joy!
The weather in January was mostly dark and wet but on January 12th it cleared up very nicely which was a good thing for Erin Danielson and Raymond Tse who had picked that day for their wedding. After getting ready in rooms at the downtown Seattle Arctic Club Hotel we made some portraits and then headed up to the Blessed Sacrament Church in the University District for the wedding ceremony. After the ceremony while most everyone headed back to the Arctic Club for the reception, we took off to make some sunset pictures with Erin and Raymond. Above they were jumping for joy as the sun went down behind a low hanging cloud bank over the Olympic Mountains across Puget Sound. Love that band of red sunset sky peeking through.
After some really fun pictures we headed back to the Dome Room of the Arctic Club to meet uo with their guests and join the wedding reception. Below are some of my favorite pictures from their wedding and below them is a slideshow of a more complete set of their wedding pictures. Special thanks to my assistant photographer Monica Frisell.

Our first wedding to photograph of the New Year was that of Erin Danielson and Raymond Tse on Jan 12th. For a pleasant surprise the weather was wonderful and the sun shined like no one would have predicted. So for Plan B we were unexpectedly able to do a number of pictures outdoor.
Above, Raymond sees Erin for the first time outside the entrance to the downtown Seattle Arctic Club. I have not been back to the Arctic Club in Seattle since it was acquired by the Hilton Hotel and completely refurbished. It is an amazing vintage building. They have restored all of the most elegant details, including the bar in the lobby and the Doom Room with its amazing ceiling dome, preserving the atmosphere of a vintage gentlemans club for Arctic explorers in downtown Seattle. The lobby is decorated with framed portraits of past member explorers.
They both got ready for their wedding in rooms there. Later after the wedding ceremony at Blessed Sacrament Parish Church, their wedding reception was in the fabulous Dome Room of the Arctic Club Seattle. We are still early in the process of editing all of the wedding pictures, but wanted to show off just a few to preview what will be coming. Congratulations to Erin and Raymond.
